intervention proposal

a project in response to the brief ‘escaping escapism’. my design partner and i explored our escapist activity of daydreaming and ways in which daydreaming states can be accessed, sustained and enhanced whilst running.
we developed a process of collecting and analysing data in order to create a ‘pre-run plan’ that would optimise someone’s daydream.
as the result of tracking pace, we discovered the ideal pace that would induce daydreaming whilst running. we developed a playlist that used BPM to determine the optimal daydreaming pace at a specific point on the designed running route.
we also considered segments and visual goals as daydream triggers, using markers such as balloons, loops and inclines followed by significant declines.
from our research we were able to introduce our escapist activity to the masses. we designed a ‘pre-run plan’ for a parkrun aimed at those who see daydreaming as an integral part of running. our park run was based in south-east london.
